SEISPLICE
Standard Ductility Coupler
Seismic-grade ductility for critical structural zones

About SEISPLICE
SEISPLICE is Bosa's Type 2 ductility coupler, purpose-engineered for seismic zones and critical structural locations where cyclic tension-compression performance is mandatory under HK CoP 2013 Cl. 3.2.8.4. The coupler passes all three stages of cyclic testing — 0.95fy, 2Ey, and 5Ey — demonstrating full ductility performance under reversed loading conditions. Required wherever CoP 2013 Cl. 9.9.1.2(e) or Cl. 9.9.2.1(e) applies, SEISPLICE ensures structural integrity in beam-column joints, plastic hinge zones, and any location where seismic energy dissipation is critical. Manufactured from the same SGS-tested steel and ISO 9001:2015 processes as the entire Bosa range.

Where to Use SEISPLICE
Seismic Zones & Plastic Hinge Regions
Mandatory for beam-column joints and plastic hinge zones where reversed cyclic loading occurs during seismic events.
Columns in Ductile Moment Frames
Required by CoP 2013 Cl. 9.9.1.2(e) for column splices in ductile moment-resisting frames.
Shear Walls — Boundary Elements
Required by CoP 2013 Cl. 9.9.2.1(e) for boundary element reinforcement in ductile shear walls.
Critical Transfer Structures
Transfer beams and plates in high-seismicity regions where ductility classification is specified by the structural engineer.
Installation Procedure
Bar Preparation
Cut rebar square. Ensure the bar end is clean, free of rust scale, and perpendicular to the bar axis. Deburr if necessary.
Thread Rolling
Roll parallel threads using a Bosa CNC thread-rolling machine. Enhanced thread profile for ductility performance.
Go/No-Go Gauge Check
Verify thread quality with the Bosa Go/No-Go gauge. Critical for seismic applications — zero tolerance.
Coupler Assembly
Thread the SEISPLICE coupler onto the first bar to the centre mark. Connect the second bar and hand-tighten.
Torque & Witness Mark
Apply specified torque with a calibrated wrench. Apply witness marks on coupler and both bars for post-installation inspection.
Test Requirements
Standards & Codes
SEISPLICE Advantages
Seismic Performance
Full cyclic tension-compression testing to Stages 1–3, verified by HOKLAS-accredited laboratories.
Code Compliance
Directly satisfies HK CoP 2013 Cl. 9.9.1.2(e) and Cl. 9.9.2.1(e) requirements for ductile structural elements.
Bar-Break Under Cyclic Load
The rebar fails before the connection even under reversed cyclic loading — the ultimate proof of ductility.
Same Installation Workflow
Uses the same CNC threading and Go/No-Go gauge process as SERVISPLICE — no retraining required.
